Don’t Waste Your Time With Google Plus and You Tube Links

Previously there has been a lot of speculation around the links from Google Plus and YouTube. It was found that there were a few dofollow link opportunities from high authority sites.

Note From Rohan : Brian Wood had previously covered a guest post about how you could grab 2 easy high PR backlinks from Google Plus and YouTube. As far as marketing goes, only change is constant and more so when Google is concerned! Here we present the latest update about the previously discussed link building means thanks to a timely contribution by our awesome guest community.

Google Plus and Youtube Marketing

What Happened To Your Google Plus Links?

Remember that these giants are always two steps ahead of us link builders. The links on the Google plus site are still dofollow though the profile pages which some had a good PR now have no PR. Whenever a comment was placed there was a dofollow link to your profile page. This was allowing us to create an authority for our page through using comment links back to our profile page. I had seen some profile pages with PR of 4, these links have now been made nofollow. Now the days of using this tactic to make your profile page rank higher to pass on link juice are finished. In my opinion without your profile page having PR there will be no authority passed on from your links to your website.

It has been said that Google Plus was using this tactic to attract webmasters to help it compete with Facebook. It appears that this may be the case that the Google plus dofollow link system has been to attract webmasters. Then once it has enough popularity the links will be turned to nofollow. Since Google Plus has turned off the dofollow links from their comments, you would think it is only a matter of time before the rest of the links are nofollow. I may be wrong but I feel building links this way would be a waste of time. There would be better methods you could focus your efforts on.

Note From Rohan : I tend to second Brian here since I believe that there is more to social media marketing than just getting links. After all, social media was never meant to be a link building tool but an interaction medium to funnel leads back to your site and close deals.

The way I look at it is that it doesn’t make sense that Google would promote spamming of their website with dofollow links. I know there will be a few upset spammers out there that thought this could be there big opportunity.

Sadly effort is always rewarded and there is no substitute for high quality back links.

What About YouTube?

The dofollow link that was available from your YouTube channel that was a dofollow link has now been made nofollow. Previously you could create a YouTube channel and create a dofollow link to your site. There wasn’t even a need to post any videos. All you had to do was leave comments on videos that had been posted on YouTube they are dofollow and pass on PR to your channel. The comments still appear to be dofollow for the moment but are quite pointless without a dofollow link on your channel page. Looks like another bait and switch tactic!

These little secrets we find will always keep arising though they often tend to be a waste of time in the end. They look promising in the short but usually are changed once whatever the objective was has been reached. The best policy still for building links is the old fashion way there still is no such thing as a free lunch.

Sure you wont get the link love you previously used to get from YouTube but that should not stop you from using YouTube as a marketing medium to plummet sales for your product.

But I love free lunch :)

I’ve just read that Pinterest is also using do-follow links, I’m sure it will also be changed to nofollow pretty soon – maybe when it’s opened for public
