So Google recently announced that they have indexed over a trillion different websites which is really quite amazing, also it gives you an idea of the scale of the internet. One of the hardest things to do when thinking about starting a new site is what niche to build it for. You see finding a smaller market for your site is one of the quickest ways to earn money online that I know and here’s why.
There will always be less competition for a smaller market than a large one, it just stands to reason. Less competition will always make it much easier for you to get to the top and this is a really important factor for someone new to building websites. I see so many new webmasters who become disheartened after trying to compete in some crazy competitive market and they realise they don’t have a chance.
A niche website is always about a very specific subject so it means you can really target either your products or advertising too that market . Consider large sites that get millions of visitors a month, they end up becoming so broad that it’s impossible to monetise the traffic in any way. Also bear in mind the costs of running a site than only gets a few hundred visitors a day are minimal .
The best thing though about niche sites is that you can dominate the marketplace just by having the most knowledge on that particular subject . For example if there is a large site that has only one page on the subject and you have a smaller site with a hundred pages all about the subject who do you think people are going to choose?
Also it allows you the freedom of being a small player but quite often you can be making as much money as the bigger sites, because you have targeted visitors who know what they want. Remember there’s a reason google can’t make a profit from youtube, it’s so general and no-one knows what to sell to the visitors.
So the question still remains, how to do you find a niche that you can get to the top of but that’s still going to make you money? The reason I mention money is that it’s easy to pick a niche to dominate and that has no real value, unless you just want the ego boost of saying your No1 then there’s really no point. The simplest way to judge value of any niche is to look at the pay per click prices that people are paying for the keyword. You can do this using the Google keyword tool and it gives you a real idea of what other people think about the value of the traffic.
The question of whether you will be able to beat the competition is a much more difficult one, after all we all have different abilities when it comes to SEO. Ultimately you’ve got to judge this part for yourself but I would suggest the newer you are to SEO the easier the niche you pick.
So those are my tips for finding the perfect niche, just don’t rank above me or else ![]()

The niche will define your website. As what I’ve learned from expert, we have to find a hit niche but with less competitors. Thanks for sharing. Good job.
